The Book of Sir Thomas More: Piece by Piece – Sunday 12th April 2026 from 1pm at the White Bear Theatre, Kennington

Join us for our latest deep dive into a play full of history and mischief. Our newest all day event is covering the manuscript play of Sir Thomas More by Anthony Munday, with a little help from his friends. The text of the play will be performed in full, covering all the twists and turns of a manuscript being written, rewritten, and censored by the Master of the Revels.
With introductions, panel discussions, a full script in hand performance of the text, and a detailed look at the play-within-a-play; this is a not to be missed all day event, from the producers of Middleton’s Endgame: A Game at Chess LIVE!
This show is a launch event for our sponsorship by The Malone Society, and as such every audience member will receive a copy of either The Book of Sir Thomas More, Lusty Juventus, or The Trial of Treasure – all elements in the show. There will also be a complimentary programme, and additional goodies tba.
The show will be long – starting at 1pm and running, with breaks, till around 8pm.
Outline running order – we start with an introduction to the manuscript of the play, followed by a script-in-hand live audio recording of the entire text (or as close as we can make it). This is followed by a panel discussion of the history of the text, a deep dive into the source materials for the play, and a closing panel discussion about how the play works in performance. The core team of panelists are Professor Tracey Hill, Dr Will Green, and Daniel Yabut, with more names to be added shortly.
Tickets are on sale now, but in short supply – book now!
Venue: The White Bear Theatre, 138 Kennington Park Rd, London SE11 4DJ – food and drink are of course available from the pub downstairs, and there is a 10% discount on food for ticket holders. Why not make a day of it with a snack before the show, and even dinner afterwards?
For our initial work on the play, we have a First Look read through available, with more to follow.
